Massive early 19th-century English serving platter was produced by Spode, rendered on a grand scale in deep, rich underglaze cobalt blue transferware. The expansive surface is elaborately decorated in the desirable Rome (or Tiber) pattern, depicting a detailed architectural and scenic view of classical Italian ruins along the river, bordered by a dense, intricate floral and scrolling border. It measures approximately 2 1/2 in. H x 18 1/2 in. W x 14 1/8 in. D overall. It is offered in good condition with minimal base wear with minor abrasions.
