Fine museum-quality Native American effigy basket was meticulously handcrafted by the renowned Coushatta (Koasati) artisan Edna Lorena Langley (1933-2009), whose masterworks are represented in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. The sculptural form is expertly coiled from longleaf pine needles and raffia, cleverly incorporating textured pine cone petals to construct the dramatic tail feathers and anatomical features of a wild turkey. It measures approximately 12 5/8 in. H x 12 3/4 in. W x 10 1/2 in. D overall. It is offered in good condition.
