Indigenous basketry piece is executed in a traditional purse-style form, masterfully crafted by renowned Cherokee Indian artisan Rachel Taylor utilizing split white oak woven in multicolored natural tones dyed with traditional black walnut and bloodroot. The Native American piece is accompanied by its original maker authenticity or Qualla tag card. A distinguished member of the Birdtown Community of the Qualla Indian Boundary, Rachel learned alongside her mother, the celebrated weaver Julia Ned Taylor (1902–1991), continuing a legacy renowned for crafting exceptional ribbed white oak baskets. It measures approximately 8 3/4 in. H x 13 1/8 in. W x 7 1/8 in. D overall. It displays small areas of separation consistent with age.
