Ironstone pedestal cake stand was produced by the pottery firm James Edwards. The sturdy serving piece features a stepped pedestal base supporting a flat, rounded display platform, crowned by a distinctive central octagonal loop handle for easy transport. It measures approximately 9 3/8 in. H x 11 1/2 in. in diameter overall, preserving its wonderful historic tone and solid architectural form, with rich overall crazing, age discoloration, and a single small abrasion to the rim edge consistent with age. Handle has been repaired.
