Sebastião Salgado (February 8, 1944 – May 23, 2025) was a renowned Brazilian documentary photographer and photojournalist, known for his global reports on social, environmental and humanitarian issues, and his work in white and white documenting the human condition and beauty two planet. Trained in Economics, he began photography in Africa in the 70s and, together with his wife Lélia, founded the Terra Institute, a reforestation project in Brazil.
