Description
Hermes Paris Chaine d'Ancre Porcelain Nut or Sweetmeat Dishes, Set of Four
Hermes Paris Chaine d'Ancre porcelain nut or sweetmeat dishes, set of four, presented in their original individual Hermes boxes and housed within the original fitted orange Hermes presentation case. Showcasing one of the French maison's most iconic motifs, this elegant porcelain service reflects the timeless sophistication and impeccable craftsmanship for which Hermes has been celebrated since 1837.
The celebrated Chaine d'Ancre ("Anchor Chain") pattern was designed in 1938 by Robert Dumas, a member of the Hermes family, after observing the massive anchor chains of the Normandy coast. Its distinctive interlocking links have since become one of the house's enduring signatures, appearing across fine jewelry, silk scarves, leather goods, and luxury tabletop collections. Each dish features a brilliant white porcelain ground bordered by deep blue and navy anchor-chain links surrounding the iconic central Chaine d'Ancre emblem, all executed with exceptional clarity and precision.
Originally intended as elegant tabletop accessories, these versatile dishes are perfectly sized for serving roasted nuts, olives, chocolates, bonbons, candied fruits, petit fours, or other sweetmeats. Their refined proportions also make them ideal as jewelry rests, coin trays, or desk accessories, effortlessly bridging formal entertaining and everyday luxury.
Each dish bears the HERMES-PARIS mark and retains its original felt-protected base. Particularly desirable is the complete presentation, including the four individual orange Hermes boxes and the original fitted 10-inch square storage box, a feature seldom preserved together and highly prized by collectors. Whether displayed on a cocktail table, bar, vanity, or desk, this complete boxed set embodies the understated elegance and enduring design language of Hermes.
