Details:
Hugo L. Black autographed 5.25 x 8.5-inch printed sheet titled "Members of the Supreme Court of the United States, October 2, 1967," featuring photographs and biographical information for all nine members of the Warren Court.
The sheet identifies Chief Justice Earl Warren and Associate Justices Hugo L. Black, William O. Douglas, John M. Harlan II, William J. Brennan Jr., Potter Stewart, Byron R. White, Abe Fortas, and Thurgood Marshall. Each justice is pictured alongside a brief biography detailing their birth, appointment, and service on the Supreme Court.
Black has personally autographed the sheet in blue ink adjacent to his printed biography. The additional signatures appearing alongside the other justices' biographies, including the second Hugo Black signature, are printed facsimiles.
Dated October 2, 1967, the roster is particularly interesting as it documents the composition of the Supreme Court on the very day Thurgood Marshall became the first African American justice to take his seat on the nation's highest court.
Measures approximately 5.25 x 8.5 inches. Fine condition with overall age toning and minor handling wear.
