For your consideration, a decorative porcelain coaster or mini plate from the iconic "Tema e Variazioni" (Themes and Variations) collection designed by the legendary Italian artist and decorator Piero Fornasetti.
The face depicted belongs to Lina Cavalieri, an internationally renowned 19th-century Italian opera singer. Fornasetti famously considered her face to be the ultimate archetype of classical beauty.
This specific variation features her portrait creatively obscured and fragmented by bold, horizontal black and white stripes. It is widely celebrated for its surreal, graphic quality.
Fornasetti created over 400 variations of Cavalieri's face throughout his career, rendering her portrait onto plates, coasters, trays, and various home decor pieces
