Pierre G.T. Beauregard Bold Signature from 1888
A card boldly signed by Confederate General Pierre Gustave Toutant-Beauregard (1818-1893) as "G.T. Beauregard / 1888." The signed surface is of cream paper stock, while the reverse is smooth and glossy and may have been for photographic purposes. Near fine. 3.325" x 2."
Beauregard was a West Point graduate who would also serve as Superintendent of the United States Military Academy. During the Civil War, Beauregard defended Charleston, South Carolina and Petersburg, Virginia, and also brilliantly commanded Confederates forces in the Western Theater. He was awarded the rank of brigadier general in March 1861.
