Description

1940 Buick Business Special Coupe. Daryl and Ann Hemken bought it from Al Berger in 1978 in Lohrville, Iowa. They drove it home and continued to enjoy driving it around. The steering wheel, running boards, and running board molding are all redone. It has been re-painted one time, otherwise everything is original. The seats were re-stuffed and original upholstery fabric was re-used. Vehicle runs and drives great. The '40 Special Coupe cost $795 from the dealer and included the 248ci straight 8. The car was intended for sales and businessmen and even included a curtain that hung behind the front seat. The rear area does not contain a seat and the trunk has a flat wood surface built above the spare tire, providing even more room for sales samples or equipment someone might use as a traveling business.
