Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Si Satchanalai), ca. 15th century CE. A fabulous pottery vase presenting a circular, flat base and slender walls that expand to a rounded shoulder, a narrow neck, and a flared rim. Enveloped in a lustrous light green glaze, the elegant vessel is intricately adorned with an elaborate decorative program comprised of 6 registers of abstract and phytomorphic motifs, all painted in a deep hue of forest green. Size: 6.125" in diameter x 10.125" H (15.6 cm x 25.7 cm)
Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998
