Description
The auction featuring items from the Saul Brandman Foundation. Mask in kaolin clay pigments on carved wood fabrication, made by the Bamileke Tribe. Region of origin: Cameroon, Africa. This mask has a carved line above the forehead. The eyes are carved, and the whites of the eyes are painted white, with the center of the eyes unpainted to distinguish the pupil. The mouth is open with carved sharpenedteeth that are painted white. The ears face outward on both sides. The mask itself measures eighteen inches tall by ten and one-quarter inches wide by seven inches deep, and the ebony tone lacquered wooden stand measures three and onehalfinches tall by ten inches wide by ten inches deep.
