ANTIQUE PAIR BRITISH ROYAL DOCUMENT SEALS

Item Details

Description

Antique red wax British royal seals in their original round brass cases. The cover of the brass cases feature the royal crown inscribed with “Miserere Mei Deus” or “Have mercy on me, O God” from Psalm 51. Patented during the reign of George the Third, this seal and case would have been affixed to any document from the King or Queen to any noble or aristocrat. These are incredibly rare to find in a pair and with the ribbon still in tact to the seal. These examples are most likely 19th century. The brass cases measure 2 3/8” in diameter. Total lot weight is 8.8 oz.
