Description
(1887-1944) German general who commanded the 16th Army, and a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. Laux commanded troops in the occupation of the Sudetenland, and as commanding officer of the 126th Infantry Division, took part in Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. On 29 August 1944, Laux was killed during a reconnaissance flight. Fine vintage S.P., 3.5 x 5.5 in. b/w, a real-photo postcard portrait by Hoffman, signed at lower middle ‘Laux’. Mounting remains to corners on verso, otherwise fine.
