Description
Pre-Columbian, western mexico, Guanajuato River Valley, Ca 300 to 100 BCE. As Chupicuaro goes, they don't get much better than this! A large and wonderfully decorated tripod, covered in deep red slip and then highlighted in tan geometric designs on both the top and bottom. Legs hold rattles indicating this was used in ceremonial rites. 10-1/2" D x 6-1/2" H.
