Join us for a 20th Century design live auction highlighting the Estate of Ilse Bischoff (1901?1990), celebrated artist and illustrator, who filled her Hartland, Vermont home with a fabulous collection of 18th C. European antiques. Her collection later expanded under Timotheus Pohl (1939?2024), former President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz North America, and an avid collector of contemporary art. Her Hartland house became a fantastic example of the success in mixing European antiques with contemporary art, a decorative style that many collectors can take inspiration from today. A Very NIce Buying Experience At William Smith Auctions.
A most enjoyable auction experience at William Smith Auction's Pre-Thanksgiving Live Auction. We appreciate the thorough catalog descriptions and excellent images. The auction was smoothly conducted and moved at a very nice pace. We very much appreciate the in house shipping. Our item was shipped out promptly and arrived in perfect condition. We could not be more pleased with our auction experience at William Smith Auctions, and look forward to participating in their next auction.

AUCTION GREAT, Live Auctioneers shipping awful!
Wm Smith auctions perfectly described and issue and sent pics. I chose shipping by Live Auctioneers thinking it would be efficient and better than arranging a shipper-wrong! They charged far too much, took so long and my several emails to finally get the box which was squashed and not even doubleboxed per UPS rules. Never again for the L. A. shipping!

Excellent Auction House
I spoke to Matt a few times regarding the saddle I purchased. He was very helpful and answered my questions right away. The saddle is exactly as represented, and it is even better in person! He was also able to direct me to a great shipper who packed and sent the saddle to me. The shipper picked the saddle up from the auction house, and it arrived in perfect condition. I will purchase from William Smith again.
