I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. The auction house is very professional and knowledgeable, the photos and descriptions are very detailed and accurate.

I purchased a painting for $325 from this auction house, and they tried to charge me over $500 in storage fees. (BTW, THE PAINTING IS VERY SMALL 13 "X23") I was out of the country for work, explained my situation, and instead of helping me, they told me “we emailed you, so we don’t care — you have to pay the fee.” Most reputable auction houses are reasonable and will waive or reduce fees in such situations, but not here. They referred me to an extremely overpriced shipper, so I found a reliable one myself, yet they still demanded the full $500 before releasing the item. This is ridiculous and completely unreasonable to charge you so much for a small item — the storage fee was more than the value of the painting! I HAD NO CHOICE TO WALK AWAY FROM THE ITEM.

Good pictures and descriptions of items. Sometimes descriptions of some items could be better, like dimensions or weight of heavier items. Over it went well, usually does.

Charging $5 per hundred dollar of value for insurance is too much. The UPS Store that they use is to blame, I guess.

After winning a lot of Hubley vehicles for $250 after the buyer premium, outside shipping and then Live Auctioneers tacking on additional premiums this lot cost me over $400! After this auction experience I will not do business with any company that doesn’t offer in house shipping. Buyers need to start complaining about premiums that are excessive and open ended shipping charges. For example I was told by UPS that they travel to the Auction house once per week to pick up lots needing to be shipped out. Then on the same token I was charged an additional fee of $20; as a pick up fee. So that means every buyer is charged this. This has to stop.

I live in Australia and was bidding online, I rang up to ask about delivery and roughly what time the lot might be up for auction considering the time difference here in Australia. The staff at Winter Associates could not have been kinder, they obviously have internalized customer service, and it was a very pleasing experience to do business with them
