What a way to loos a customer!!! BE AWARE BUYERS
I purchased a painting for $325 from this auction house, and they tried to charge me over $500 in storage fees. (BTW, THE PAINTING IS VERY SMALL 13 "X23") I was out of the country for work, explained my situation, and instead of helping me, they told me “we emailed you, so we don’t care — you have to pay the fee.” Most reputable auction houses are reasonable and will waive or reduce fees in such situations, but not here. They referred me to an extremely overpriced shipper, so I found a reliable one myself, yet they still demanded the full $500 before releasing the item. This is ridiculous and completely unreasonable to charge you so much for a small item — the storage fee was more than the value of the painting! I HAD NO CHOICE TO WALK AWAY FROM THE ITEM.

They say what they will do, and they do it.
Charging $5 per hundred dollar of value for insurance is too much. The UPS Store that they use is to blame, I guess.

Please note that the insurance charges you are referring to are UPS standard fee, this is what all UPS Stores are required to charge for any additional insurance. In the future please note that attached to the email with your invoice was a listing of other area shippers that you can reach out to for a quote. The Wallingford UPS Store is our recommended shipper, but you can hire any shipper to handle your purchase as long as they are able to provide a bill of lading at the time of pickup. 27 % Buyer Premium is Outrageous
After winning a lot of Hubley vehicles for $250 after the buyer premium, outside shipping and then Live Auctioneers tacking on additional premiums this lot cost me over $400! After this auction experience I will not do business with any company that doesn’t offer in house shipping. Buyers need to start complaining about premiums that are excessive and open ended shipping charges. For example I was told by UPS that they travel to the Auction house once per week to pick up lots needing to be shipped out. Then on the same token I was charged an additional fee of $20; as a pick up fee. So that means every buyer is charged this. This has to stop.

It is important to familiarize yourself with each auction house’s conditions of sale prior to bidding. Winter Associates takes pride in covering all points up front in our conditions of sale. When bidding through an online venue the buyer's premium is 28 %, if bidding in-house our buyer's premium is 23 %. Our conditions of sale states that we do not offer in-house shipping. Our recommended shipper can provide a shipping quote prior to the sale to assist the bidder. A list of area shippers ’ contact information is sent along with your invoice. Thank you, Corinne M. I live in Australia and was bidding online, I rang up to ask about delivery and roughly what time the lot might be up for auction considering the time difference here in Australia.
