Inuit & First Nations Art | April 2026

First Arts is pleased to present our April Online Auction of Inuit & First Nations Art, bringing together a wide-ranging selection of historic and contemporary works from across North America. Among the sale?s notable strengths is a fine group of ceramics from Kangiqliniq (Rankin Inlet), offering a wonderful cross-section of the community?s ceramic tradition from its experimental early years through its later resurgence and continuing practice. Other Inuit art highlights also include major works in whalebone, including sculpture by Billy Meroksak, a commanding work by Qaqaq Ashoona, and an exceptional and monumental textile by Victoria Mamnguqsualuk. Northwest Coast material is especially well represented, with works that range from historic carving to contemporary masterworks. Highlights include a canoe by Robert Ridley, a fine Late Trade argillite pipe, masks by Patrick Amos, Willie Hawkins, and others, Robert Davidson?s celebrated Eagle print of 1979, a rattle by Joe Peters Jr., an Isaac Tait model bowl, and a pair of Ba?k?wa?s and Dzunu??wa form model rattles by John Jacobson. The sale also includes a strong selection of works by artists associated with the Woodlands School, among them an unusual relief-carved and painted antler work by Goyce Kakegamic, a mixed-media canvas by Jane Ash Poitras, and a thoughtful group of paintings and drawings. We invite you to explore the auction online and to join us in person for the preview. We would be pleased to answer any questions at 647-286-5012 or by email at info@firstarts.ca.

Excellent
First Arts is an excellent auction house for indigenous art. Live Auctioneers is a costly and mediocre auction platform.
