Description of item omitted major issue with frame
The people at Eldred's were very nice about giving me extra time to arrange pickup. They had recommended two UPS shippers only for me to find out that they would not ship a piece of this size. I finally found a PakMail shipper who picked up the piece, only to inform me that the frame and (plexi) glass were badly separated from the print itself. The frame was also damaged in noticeable ways. I have acquired many framed pieces through LiveAuctioneers in the past without any similar type of damage. I think that such an obvious problem with the piece should have been noted in the listing.... I would have bid differently for only the print.

Item Details Incorrect
The bureau dimensions listed incorrectly: actual depth is 20.5 inches but Eldred’s has it as 40.5 inches. Also condition details missing: an open gap in the back board that runs the full width of the piece and missing veneer in a few places in the front. This being my first purchase with Eldred’s, will be my last.

The items need to have better descriptions.
This would have been a bette r experience all the way around if they had described the items as damaged or missing all their fingers on their left hands on the door of Hope Dolls. I am not happy with them but the other lot was great. I will do business with this auction house again. I guess always ask what the condition of the items are because whoever looks at them obviously does not know what they are doing to over look no fingers on both dolls except for one finger on each left hand!

Items as described in photos
Overall pleased with my auction wins. After I won a lot containing antique fire grenades dated to the 1880’s I was told that they could not be shipped because they could contain a dangerous chemical. I attempted to explain that this era of the earliest fire grenades are safe because they contain a salt water brine solution. But whomever they consulted with said that they could have dangerous chemicals. This consultant is wrong. Even eBay allows them and the USPS to be transported through their systems. But I just cancelled the lot … disappointing but not the end of the world. The remaining lots arrived safely and as described. I wish Eldreds offered in house shipping. Some of these shipping companies take advantage and charge a lot to ship auction items.
