The facts are very different from what has been claimed. Approximately 10 months ago, the bidder purchased a large mirror in one of our auctions. Our terms clearly state that buyers are responsible for arranging pickup or shipping of purchased items. After the auction ended, the buyer contacted us requesting that we store the mirror for 30 days because they were in the process of moving. Although storage is not typically part of our service, we agreed to accommodate the request. At the end of the 30-day period, the buyer informed us they were still unable to pick up the mirror and had not arranged shipping. They then asked if we could resell the item. At that time, we explained that the mirror remained in the possession of the consigner at the consignor’s property, where it remains to our knowledge. Nothing was “scammed,” discarded, or given away. We also advised the buyer that if we conducted another auction with this consignor, we would attempt to relist the mirror. To date, that opportunity has not occurred.
