Demir Antiques

The story of Demir Antiques began in 1961, when my grandmother, a 15-year-old Anatolian girl named Zeynep, knotted and signed her first rug. From that moment, my family cultivated a love for collecting, passing it down from my grandmother to my grandfather and my dear mother. This passion, kept alive by my ancestors, ultimately took root in me when I was seventeen, during a visit to Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul. There, I discovered my fascination for European porcelain, sparking a lifelong pursuit of antiques that introduced me to countless people and stories. Years later, while exploring my family’s collection, I found my grandmother’s rug tucked beneath a sofa—her creation as a young girl. I felt like an archaeologist who had just uncovered a Roman emperor’s bust! This euphoric discovery inspired me to seek out more treasures and led me to wonder how I could share this joy with others. A few months later, I officially founded Demir Antiques as a tribute to my ancestors, those I knew and those I never met. Today, after more than eight years, Demir Antiques is a respected member of the antique and vintage seller community in both Europe and the United States.
