Estate Artist Illustrator John H. McClelland
On-site estate sale of American illustrator and portrait artist John H. McClelland (1919-2016). John Harold McClelland was an accomplished artist influenced by some of the greatest illustrators of the ?30s including John LeGatta, McClelland Barclay, Dean Cornwell, Al Parker, and Norman Rockwell. After working with Kling Studios in New York, he became one of the top magazine illustrators in the country by the 1950s. His portrait of his daughter was purchased by Woman?s Home Companion and appeared in several advertisements as well as the cover of the Kimball Christmas catalog. McClelland accepted commissions from all over the country.
Auction includes many original pieces from McClelland, his uncle: Robert C. Kauffmann (1900-1999), Dean Cornwell, Paul T. Arlt, Jean Woodham, Teiji Takai, Ted Draz, and more. Personal artist tools, jewelry, sterling silver, furniture, and more offered for the collectors for this estate auction.
