Prehistoric Artifact Auction
We are pleased to offer artifacts from two old time collections in this February Auction. The vast majority of the Max Jordan collection will be featured in this sale. Mr. Jordan collected for nearly 30 years, with many of his artifacts being personal finds. The auction is complimented with the addition of select material from the Hal Noe Collection. Mr. Noe is featured in Who’s Who in Indian Relics #4. Some very fine consignments from prominent collections will round out this sale. Of special note, a grouping of artifacts from the Harry Franke Collection (most pictured in the 1953 St. Louis Prehistoric Art book) will be offered as well.
Many of the artifacts offered in this auction have been pictured in prominent journals, books and
other publications. A large number of the pieces have been authenticated by independent authenticators. Rarely are so many pictured and papered artifacts offered in one auction.
This diverse sale will include flint, slate, stone and pottery. Artifacts from the beginner to the most advanced collector will be available - including pieces once in prestigious collections such as Townsend, Dr. Young, the Bush Brothers, Dr. Meuser, Payne, Stone, Knoblock and Ben Thompson.
Just a few of the sale highlights: Two Great Pipes pictured in one of the first Central States, a Doublenotched Bannerstone from the Cameron Parks Collection, a Ladlow Johnston Birdstone, two large Wadlows from the Franke Collection, a Quartz Hourglass pictured in the Payne Book and a Knobbed Crescent once owned by Roy Hathcock.
