Rago's is honored to offer part of the collection of lifelong benefactor and supporter of Studio Craft, Daphne Farago (1924 - 2017), on behalf of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to benefit their institution. Featuring exceptional contemporary glass by Libenský & Brychtová, Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Richard Marquis, Dan Dailey, and Toots Zynsky; Ceramics by Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye, Ron Nagle, Jun Kaneko, Robert Arneson, and Betty Woodman; Furniture by Wendell Castle, Sam Maloof, and Garry Knox Bennett; Spectacular Japanese baskets; and textile, fiber, and bead art by Judy Mulford, Michael Olszewski, and more. The collection was built around a love of fine crafts, from jewelry to Japanese baskets, fiber, glass, ceramics and furniture. The sale will offer some ninety lots of works from a variety of makers including Sam Maloof, Wendell Castle, Lino Tagliapietra, Dan Dailey, Alev Sisbye and Robert Arneson, plus sophisticated baskets by Tanabe Chikuunsai III, Tanioka Shigeo, Hayakawa Shokosai V and Fujinuma Noboru, the last two honored with the title of Living National Treasure of Japan."
