Fall Couture and Textiles

This season The Charles A. Whitaker Auction Co. will bring to market selected deaccessions from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, a promenent Virginia museum as well as several University and private collections including the estate of Mary Doering. Friday October 19th Session will include the last of the documentary textile fabric sample books from the laboratory at Fashion Institute of Technology. There are outstanding selections of printed silks and cottons from the mid 19th century through the 1940's. Most are large format books custom bound, labeled and slipcased. Following the sample books we will have our regular catalog sale and conclude with the discovery sale and box lots. Saturday October 20th Session will include couture, textiles and accessiories from the same collections with important examples from major design houses including: Dior, Worth, Chanel, Balenciaga, Fortuny, Paquin, Pingat, LeLong, Gaultier, Fath, YSL, Lacroix, Adrian, McQueen, Trigere and others. Good accessories including a private collection of parasols, umbrellas and carved handles.
