The Estate of John F. Ball
(95 lots) Former film & television executive, Greenwich CT. Mr. Ball's estate features important Luminist Paintings (lots 18, 21, 22), a fine collection of Chinese Jades (lots 115-125), and an extensive collection of 18th Century French Porcelain (lots 140-199). He was the son-in-law to Elizabeth Parke Firestone (1897-1990), whom Christie's had called "the last of a generation of great post-war collectors" in their catalog for her 1991 estate auction. Many of the items to be offered were formerly part of her collection.

The Estate of J.D. McClatchy (64 lots) American poet, librettist, literary critic, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in poetry and former president of The American Academy of Arts and Letters, Stonington CT. The estate features Mr. McClatchy's extensive collection of Literary & Musical Autographs & Manuscripts (lots 60-103) which not only reflects his tastes as a collector, but as a major American artist and "one of the country's foremost men of letters" (The New York Times). The estate also features a fine collection of Japanese Prints (lots 239-251) gifted to Mr. McClatchy from his close friend, the seminal American poet and Merrill-Lynch heir James Merrill.
