Hindman is pleased to announce the April 7 Palm Beach Collections Auction featuring European and Asian furniture and decorative arts from the Michael Hall Collection, Miami Beach. By all accounts, Michael Hall, actor, collector and art dealer, was a memorable character who led a truly remarkable life. He was mentored by such legendary Renaissance and Baroque specialists as Wilhelm Valentiner, Sir John Pope-Hennessy and Sir Kenneth Clark, among others. In 1963, Hall opened a gallery in Manhattan, specializing in Renaissance and Baroque paintings and works of art. His client list grew to include among others, Charles and Jayne Wrightsman, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Art, Boston, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Detroit Institute of Art. The Hall Collection, consisting of over 150 lots, features Italian 18th and 19th century furniture, Asian ceramics and sculpture, several pieces of grotto furniture, and a fine selection of European 19th century bronze sculpture. The auction continues with diverse offerings from various estates, collections and consignors including Meissen and Sevres style porcelain, Austrian cold-painted bronze sculpture, English, French and Italian furniture, clocks candelabra and chandeliers.
