The April 20 auction of Couture, Textiles and Accessories will showcase two centuries of fashions, costume jewelry, handbags and accessories, as well as world textiles. Among the early pieces are a silk 1815 American redingote, a 1901 Liberty cape, a 1913 Beer embroidered gown, a 1920 opera coat by Paquin, and a 1930s Peplos gown by Fortuny. Property from the Collection of Princess Fawkia of Egypt features 1930s designs by Worth, Vionnet, Maggy Rouf and Hermes. From the collection of a New York Lady is a group of early 1950s Fath and Rochas couture. Property from other owners includes designs by Jean Desses, Balenciaga, Carven, Dior, Pucci, Gres, Mainbocher, Balmain, Norell, Lanvin, Chanel, St. Laurent, Thea Porter, Norell, Mary McFadden, Halston, John Galliano, and Beene, as well a collection of early clothing and accessories by Moschino. Textiles include the collection of Jelko Yuresha, comprising Middle Eastern and Asian robes and other textiles. Other offerings include a large number of Hermes handbags, featuring a black crocodile Birkin with an after-market lock and clasp of pave diamonds, trunks and cases by Louis Vuitton, and fine costume by Dior, Chanel, St. Laurent, and Lina Baretti, as well as extravagant pieces by The Show Must Go On and Iradj Moini.
