Decorative Arts Auction - August 8
Treadway is pleased to announce their August 8th, Decorative Arts auction in Cincinnati. This sale includes ceramics, lighting, bronze, art glass and fine art spanning multiple movements.
Fine art features a Gertrude Abercrombie oil on board from a Midwest collection estimated at $20,000 to $30,000, and another Abercrombie at $10,000 to $15,000. This collection also features an oil by Dale William Nichols at $35,000 to $45,000, a Florida harbor scene by Albert Ernest Backus and two works by John Steuart Curry. A large watercolor by Birger Sandzen and an exceptional oil by Edmund D. Lewandowski fills out the fine art in this sale.
American Art Nouveau glass in this auction features several works by Louis C. Tiffany from a collection in Palm Beach. An extensive collection of Tiffany studios from an Ohio collection includes a Linenfold lamp is estimated at $12,000 to $17,000, as well numerous other desk lamps, candlesticks and a wide array of bronze desk pieces including inkwells, letter racks, clocks and frames. The European Art Nouveau glass being sold, includes a diverse and fine collection of Loetz, as well as pieces by Daum, Galle, Vallerysthal, Rene Lalique and a very rare example of Eugene Rousseau.
A collection of arts and crafts furniture features several nice pieces of Limbert, Stickley Bros. L and J G Stickley and Gustav Stickley. Ceramics include from a collection from New Jersey several fine examples of Grueby and Fulper. A collection of Weller from Chicago and Michigan along with pieces of Rookwood from Cincinnati and other collections round out the ceramics. Some nice pieces of Dirk van Erp from this New Jersey collection coupled with exceptional examples of Gertrude Twitchell, Liberty and Omar Ramsden offers buyers a wide selection. Modern objects feature a sculpture by Carole Feuerman, ceramics by Antoniucci Volti, Rose Cabat, Christofle and Val Bertoia.
