Early American Glass & Pewter Ledlie Laughlin
The glass and pewter offered in this auction comes with provenance seldom encountered. Ledlie Laughlin's book titled: "Pewter in America", has long been considered the standard reference of American pewter collecting. The pewter in this sale is from his personal collection; some pewter is pictured in his book. In addition, the American free blown glass and flask collection was also assembled during the 1920s and 30s by Ledlie Laughlin, some pieces having been purchased from the two landmark glass auctions: "The Private Collection of George S. McKearin" (1931/1932). Other glass comes with original receipts, as shown. The two part catalogue from this McKearin glass sale will be offered here, along with signed copies of "Pewter in America" and McKearin's "200 Years of American Blown Glass" and "American Glass".
