Treadway is pleased to announce their May 1st Decorative Arts auction in Cincinnati. This sale includes ceramics, metalwork, furniture, lighting, fine art and art glass spanning multiple movements. The American ceramics portion of this sale includes a few Newcomb College pieces of note - a beautifully painted and charming hi-glaze creamer estimated at $4500 to $5500 and a monumental matte glaze at $9000 to $12000. A beautifully glazed Pewabic vase will bring $3500 to $4500, while a wonderfully detailed and rare tile by Frederick Rhead is expected to bring upwards of $5500. Early Van Briggle, several pieces of North Dakota School of Mines, a collection of Niloak, multiple pieces of Fulper, Saturday Evening Girls, Marblehead, and Grueby will also be offered. Ohio ceramics includes works by Owens, Clewell, Weller, Rozane and Rookwood Pottery. Charming boxes and silver works from a Canadian collection by Guild of Handicraft, William Hutton, Omar Ramsden, Sibyl Dunlop are featured, and a small selection of Asian items, including a very fine Japanese decorative box, offer buyers a wide selection of styles and eras. Lighting, candlesticks, and multiple glass pieces by Tiffany Studios are included, with numerous nice examples of metalwork as well. Other American art glass makers will also be featured, including Steuben, Durand, and Quezal. This auction includes furniture by numerous Arts & Crafts makers. A classic Gustav Stickley chalet desk is estimated at $1500 to $2500. Many Roycroft works will be up for auction, including a meditation chair for $1200 to $1700, two very nice armchairs, a dining table, and a very rare set of Grove Park Inn dining chairs. Several pieces by Limbert, Stickley Brothers as well as Charles Stickley will also be offered. European Art Nouveau glass in this auction features nice examples by Galle, Daum, Loetz, Lalique, and Webb from collections across the Midwest and East coast.
