Modern and Contemporary Ceramics

Following the Fall 2010 record-breaking auction of the Peter Voulkos ceramic "Gash," the partnership between Wes Cowan, Garth Clark, and Mark Del Vecchio announces their second auction of Modern and Contemporary Ceramics to be held June 4, 2011, at Cowan's Auctions in Cincinnati. First session: "Masterworks Collections" comprising of 107 lots from such artists as Peter Voulkos, Lucie Rie, Betty Woodman, Ron Nagle, Rudy Autio, Ralph Bacerra, Michael Cardew, in all 58 artists. The Second session: "Potters Market," comprising of approximately 130 lots of Studio Ceramics by such artists as David Leach, Otto Heino, John Maltby, and many others from the Dorothy Miner collection. The Third session is comprised of the extensive library from the Dorothy Miner Collection, with over 110 lots of ceramic reference books. The Modern and Contemporary Ceramics auctions, to be held semi-annually, blend Cowan's stellar reputation as an auction house with Clark and Del Vecchio's impeccable credentials as writers, critics, historians, curators, and consultants to leading museums and thirty years of being the world's leading ceramic dealers.
