Presenting Day Two of the March 2024 Auctions, held on March 15th, 2024, at 11AM EST. This event continues our tradition of showcasing an exceptional selection of art and antiques, featuring items from notable estates and private collections across Metro Detroit and the broader Midwest. Highlights include a captivating watercolor, gouache, and graphite work on paper by Charles Ephraim Burchfield, titled "Reflections" from May 1916. This piece, once a part of the Burchfield Penny Art Center's collection, comes with a storied provenance from the artist to Tony Sisti of Buffalo, N.Y. Additionally, the auction features a striking selection of glass artwork, from a hand-blown Murrine vase by Stephen Rolfe Powell, "Hesitation Cheeks Johnson," to stunning glass works from the collection of the Prominent Chapman Collection of Toledo, Ohio ā highlighted by a stunning laminated glass vase by Sidney Hutter, among other exceptional pieces. Art Nouveau enthusiasts will be drawn to two 1896 lithographs by Alphonse Mucha, "Salon Des Cent" and āJob,ā from the collection of Donna Lee Hamilton of White Lake, MI. Also presenting two compelling works by Chuang Che, a fusion of Eastern calligraphy and Western abstract art, reflecting the artist's unique cross-cultural artistic journey. Find historical pieces such as a Roman Carrara marble sculpture of "Cupid and Psyche" by Italian artist Scipione Tadolini. Other notable additions include two lots of screenprints from Josef Albersā Formulation series, a woodcut on watermarked laid paper from Albrecht Durer āThe Resurrection,ā from Sheldon Ross Gallery of Birmingham, MI and the estate of David Lebenbom, and an etching from Richard Serra's "Plate 18, Venice Notebook."
