Modern Art

To kick off our 2025 auction year, we have a wide range of Modern and Contemporary art on offer, featuring some of the biggest names in art history! Pablo Picasso's lithograph 'Nu assis, de profil' on Arches-Velin (estimate EUR 9,000 - 12,000) was created in 1947 and impressively illustrates Picasso's ability to maintain a strong expressive power even with a reduced style. Marc Chagall's 'Le Verger - Sheet 37 from Daphnis et Chloe', 1961 - (estimate EUR 8,000 - 10,000) combines his characteristic intensity of color and poetic imagery. Joan Miro's 'Escalade vers la lune' from 1969 (estimate EUR 8,000 - 12,000) fascinates with its playful abstraction and dynamic formal language, which takes the viewer on a surreal journey into cosmic spheres. The silver gelatin prints by Sally Mann stand out in particular from the more than 30 lots in the photography category. Sally Mann's black and white photographs from the early 1990s, particularly from the 'Immediate Family' series, capture intimate, poetic and often melancholic moments of her children in the natural surroundings of her garden. You can also look forward to a selection of Pop Art works, including 8 lots by Andy Warhol, such as his color serigraph 'Jimmy Carter I' (estimate EUR 10,000 - 15,000), which was created in 1976 as an artist proof alongside an edition of 50 copies and is an impressive example of his iconic portrait art, in which he staged the then US presidential candidate with bright colors and graphic sharpness. Thierry Noir's 'Une superb journee' from 1993 is similarly colorful (estimate EUR 10,000 - 15,000). With its bright colors and striking, stylized figures, the painting reflects the playful energy and unmistakable street art style of the artist who shaped the Berlin Wall.
