Contemporary Art

Our January 2026 Contemporary Art auction features several special collections including a fascinating group of works by Eduardo Paolozzi, acquired directly from the artist by his close friend and collaborator, Ray Watson. We are also delighted to be offering The Stephen Jenn Collection: Part II: Select Works by John Kirby, as well as a small group of personal portraits by Tai-Shan Schierenberg from the Estate of John Kirby. The artists developed a close friendship after meeting together during their art school studies in London in the 1980s. The importance of relationships between artists, collaborators and collectors is a common thread in this auction and is continued with our offering of a further grouping of works from the Collection of Gillian Raffles, including some early works by one of her longest-standing artists, Dame Elizabeth Blackadder. We are delighted to have strong representation from other ever-popular Scottish artists including Jack Vettriano, John Bellany, Robin Philipson and Peter Howson, a range of compelling sculpture including a striking bronze by Gerald Laingand a playful painted piece by Nicholas Party.
