Graphic Design
Our spring Graphic Design auction will stand alone this year as we have accumulated so many great works in this burgeoning, sophisticated market.
The auction is anchored by two outstanding works by the indomitable A.M. Cassandre. His rare and exceptional book poster advertising Paul Morand's Champions du Monde has appeared at auction fewer than half a dozen times in the last 30 years. Second is the previously unseen-on-the-market Café Chat Noir. This 1932 poster has near mythical status, as it has historically been known to exist only as an unpublished poster.
The designers whose work is featured in the sale read like a Who's Who of twentieth century titans, including: Erik Nitsche, Bertold Löffler, Fortunato Depero, Ludwig Hohlwein, Herbert Matter, Marcello Nizzoli, Sepo, Gustav Klutsis, Herbert Leupin, John Massey, Leo Lionni, Giovani Pintori, Sven Brasch, Ivan Chermayeff, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and many more.
Works from around the globe are represented by designs from Russia, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, The Americas, France, Great Britian, Sweden, Poland, and more.
