Day Two features fine art, sculpture, Asian decorative arts, fine art portfolios, and collectibles from important Michigan estates and private collections. The auction is highlighted by works from major 20th century artists, including three large-scale screenprints by Tom Wesselmann, alongside prints and works on paper by Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Fernand Léger, and Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Other notable works include Walter Lazzaro’s 1956 painting Capanni, an early example from the artist’s well-known beach cabin series inspired by the Versilia coast of Tuscany. Asian works of art are strongly represented with a large selection of carved Chinese sculptures and decorative objects from the Collection of Marianne Endicott, Grosse Pointe Shores, MI. Highlights include carved coral Guanyin figures, jadeite plaques, rose quartz carvings, jade vessels, hardstone urns, and mounted decorative objects dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The sale also features an extensive selection of House of Igor Carl Fabergé objects produced for the Franklin Mint, including jeweled Imperial eggs, musical eggs, clocks, and an Imperial chess set incorporating enamel, gemstones, vermeil, and hidden jewelry elements.
