Michaans Auctions September Gallery Auction will be held on Friday, September 18th at 10 a.m. We are honored to be offering of Estate of Daniel M. (Wygold) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a Naval Officer and an entrepreneur. He and his wife loved to travel and always brought back beautiful and interesting items. His collection covers the spectrum from noted painters to precise metal aircraft and automobile models. Michaan?s will be offering this collection over the next four months. In addition to 18th- and 19th-century portraits, the September collection includes artists Greg Gandy, Paul Charles Chocame-Moreau, Giulio Rosati, and Marcel Brunery to name a few. There are Empire and French Napoleon Bronze Figural Clocks. Alongside an array of military helmets with origins from Britain, Sweden, and Austria. There are also a menagerie of marble busts, bronze and brass urns along side large models of Navy aircraft and a merchant ship. The Asian Art Department is featuring collaborative painting by Zhang Daqian and Zheng Yuebo and calligraphy by Kawabata Yasunari. Daqian and Yuebo were close friends and master Chinese ink painters who shared a deep artistic partnership while living as neighbors in Carmel CA. during the ?60?s and ?70?s. There are beautiful jade lots including jade bowl with animal carvings for handles and an enterically carved panel. There are wonderful ceramic bowls from the Tongzhi (1862 ? 1875) and Daoguang (1821 ? 1850) Periods. The Jewelry and Timepiece Department is offering a striking Jadeite Jade, 22k Yellow Gold Ring. The Rhapsody Tanzanite blitz continues with your choice of striking rings with different shaped stones. The featured timepiece is a Ladies Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 18k Yellow Gold Stainless Steel Wristwatch. Rounding out the session is a beautiful Victorian Garnet Enamel, Yellow Gold Brooch.
