Firearms, Native American

A good portion of this Native American auction is from the estate of artist and filmmaker Bert Van Bork. Van Bork was born in 1928 in Augustusburg, Germany. He studied art at the Academies of Fine Arts in Berlin, Leipzig, and Dresden. He directed countless films for Encyclopaedia Britannica Educational Corporation, including ?Indian Art of the Pueblos?, which tells how the Pueblo Indian tribes of the American southwest are preserving ancient art forms of their ancestors. Through ceramics, basketry, hand weaving, and ritual dancing, contemporary Indians use symbols, forms, and styles which reflect cultural history and religion. Van Bork made over 200 films. His collection of fine Hopi pottery, cradle dolls, tablitas and rattles are just part of his wonderful collection. NATIVE AMERICAN: Large collection of Native American pots, kachinas/cradle dolls, tablitas, rattles and gourds from the estate of film director Bert Van Bork; art by Dale Wilson and Robert Chee; Native American pottery by Lucy Lewis, Fannie Nampeyo, Howard Naranjo & Maria; baskets, jewelry, moccasins, weavings, arrowheads, headdress, drum, beadwork, Navajo woven chair and more.
