ETON Galleries, in partnership with Bold Bids LLC, is proud to present the collection of prominent Houston surgeon Dr. J. Martin Barrash. Crossing the block is a selection of fine art and bronzes, art glass & crystal, jewelry, timepieces, and luxury goods, silver, Asian & Islamic works of art, to include fine jades and snuff bottles, ivory carvings, porcelains, lacquer wares; modern & contemporary fine & decorative art and custom-created furnishings, as well as traditional fine & decorative arts and furniture offerings. Highlights include a number of Japanese ceramics, attributed to renowned potter Shoji Hamada (1894-1978), as well as a Japanese six-panel Zen calligraphy floor screen by Yamaoka Tesshu (1836-1888), acquired from the Estate of George Zournas, late of Lubbock, Texas; two 19th century Anglo-Indian ivory mosaic inlay desk accoutrements and a number of tribal and ethnographic works of art from a Sugar Land, Texas private collection; an Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (French, 1824-1887) bronze figural group, ?Festival Bound?, a Carl Kauba (American/Austrian 1865-1922) cold-painted bronze group, ?Desperado?, a carved and polychromed wood children's carousel figure of a crouching monkey, a collection of 17th century hand-colored maps by Dutch cartographer Frederick De Wit (1630-1706); a finely decorated antique Russian icon, depicting St. Nicholas; a rare Wedgwood ceramic urn, circa 19th century or earlier, from the estate of a prominent Houston, Texas family, by family repute a prototype (and possibly unique) example; a mirrored pair of Chinese famille rose ?Hundred Boys? jars, Daoguang Period; and a Chinese Ming Dynasty lacquered wedding basket with mother-of-pearl inlay.
