Robert Oppenheimer to his presumed lover Ruth Sherman Tolman. Oppenheimer is most remembered as the head of the weapons division for the Manhattan Project. These editions by Oppenheimer were inscribed to Tolman, as well as laid-in with newspaper clippings and a hand-written note from the author. Ruth Sherman Tolman was particularly close to the Manhattan Project, being Oppenheimer's lover and the wife of another scientist on the project.
