Silver, Coin & Medals

Our Autumn Silver, Coins & Medal auction features over 500 lots of silver holloware, flatware and novelties, followed by a varied selection of coins and military medals. Our highlights for the silver section begin with Lot 16 - an impressive George IV silver twin-handled tureen and cover by Richard Sibley I. Other well-known maker?s in the sale include Lot 94 ? an Arts & Crafts silver dish by Omar Ramsden and a modern condiment set, caster and pair of candlesticks by Robert Welch (Lot 137). For collectors of novelty items, we have a wonderful selection of Dutch miniature toys, including Lot 288 - a late eighteenth or early nineteenth century Dutch silver miniature toy modelled as a flatiron with an unmarked matching stand, alongside Lot 287 - a Dutch silver miniature toy modelled as a coffee pot. This section also includes a Norwegian novelty silver salt and pepper of a polar bear and penguin by David Anderson. (Lot 320). The second part of our auction is dedicated to Coins & Medals, including Lot 426 - a George IV, gold Two-Pounds 1826 (S 3799) and Lot 442 - a Victoria, Five-Pounds 1887 (S 3864). For those interested in items with a different historical aspect we have Lot 483 - a Wales, Quarter-Ounce Welsh gold sovereign medal 1989, whose gold was mined at Gwynfynydd, near Dolgellau, operative from 1887 to 1998.
