Ambassador University Library - Weekend 9
CNY Book Auctions and National Book Auctions are pleased to announce that we will be spending September, 2006 through April, 2007, selling approximately 100,000 books, plus furnishings & equipment from the former Ambassador University campus library in Big Sandy, Texas. The auctions will take place on location in Texas (approximately two miles east of Big Sandy, on Route 80) and will be usually be organized into Friday evening and Saturday afternoon pairs of auctions, combined with library-style book sales beginning in January. Each typical weekend will include approximately 800 lots, containing nearly 10,000 books. This library is a complete university campus facility with full Library of Congress categorization and has been closed since 1997. The library's closing pre-dates the advent of internet book selling and this is the first time this inventory has been put to market. We will systematically move through the library, following the classifications. The library contains a high percentage of antique books including many landmark texts of significant value. We have also been finding a steady flow of important author signatures and inscriptions in many of the books. We will be organizing the auction lots into individual titles, small groups and boxlots. This is a rare opportunity to access a massive collection of strong dealer inventory and collectible titles including thousands of antique books and limited print scholarly works. *** PLEASE READ ***: We have found in the course of selling the massive quantity of lots from this library, that on occasion, the final bidder information is not correctly recorded on eBay. Some items which were actually won by floor bidders are sometimes recorded as being won by eBay bidders, and vice versa. It is not a widespread problem, but it has happened a few times during each of our auctions. We assume this is the result of the amount of data that is being transfered simultaneously and inevitable technical imperfections. We are diligent to accurately enter the final bid information, but these discrepancies seem unavoidable. Our records take precedence over bidding results indicated on eBay and our invoicing will reflect the true final results. We regret this small amount of confusion, if you wish to avoid the risk of these technical mis-recordings, please contact us to enter absentee bids, or attend the live auction. By placing your bid on eBay, you accept the risk of any such bid history discrepancies. This is a very large inventory and we are cataloging to as detailed a level as is practical. As you will see, we have gone into closer inspection for titles which are selling singly. The small groups have received a general inspection by us during the cataloging process while the boxlots have simply been grouped and boxed. The books in this library are generally in good or better condition, most books that were in need of repair, have been professionally repaired. We have been very impressed by the presence of important illustrations, especially folding maps. We have found very few instances of missing illustrations, 99% of the folding maps and other illustrations in the antique books have been present upon inspection. We guarantee all items to be as represented, please apply your own judgment and expertise to any characteristics beyond those we have specifically stated as these items are selling as-is. We recommend attending our live preview before each auction. 20% buyer's premium will apply. Buyer pays for fixed shipping (amount indicated within each listing), FOB within the US by USPS Media Mail. Buyers who purchase multiple lots will receive a 30% discount on the shipping for all lots of equal or lesser shipping charge (buyer pays the full shipping amount for the heaviest lot, and receives a 30% discount off the shipping charges for all other lots in the same order). International orders may require mandatory insurance. If you are an international buyer, and are concerned about shipping cost, please contact us before bidding. Domestic insurance is available at $1.30 per $50.00 coverage, rates for international insurance can be quite volatile, so please ask for a quote. All packages shipping to a Texas address, or picked up at the auction location, will be subject to Texas State 6.75% sales tax unless a valid Texas Re-Sale or Tax Exempt Certificate is presented.
