Americana and Other Related Wares
On January 24th we celebrate Americana and the diversity of American decorative and fine arts, as well as folk art and related wares from England and beyond that help tell the story of American life from the 18th century to the present day and illustrate the connections to our European roots. Highlighting this sale is the Collection of Gloria and Richard Manney, New York which includes a Fine and Rare Chippendale Carved Secretary Bookcase, an Unusual Federal Carved Mahogany Small Sofa and a Fine Federal Carved Mahogany and Satinwood Console Table, both attributed to the workshop of Duncan Phyfe, and a pair of Carved Trompe L?Oeil Water Fowl on panel by Alexander Pope (1849-1924). Folk Art highlights include decoys, painted game boards and horses, and a selection of patchwork quilts.
