Rare Books and Ephemera

Discover rare books and ephemera to grow your collection. This sale offers a range of antiquarian books and manuscripts, including important documents and fine works of art, literature, and history. An exceptional highlight of this sale is a near complete set of La Gazette du Bon Ton, containing hundreds of pochoir illustrations. The pages feature beautifully illustrated scenes of early 20th century culture, fashion, and design. Also leading this sale is a 1913 edition of Alfred de Vigny?s posthumous publication, Daphné. This edition in fine Gruel binding has been tipped-in with an exceedingly rare heliograph of one of the well documented ?lost? pages from the hand-written manuscript held at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris. The sale also includes rare artist editions and folios, including powerfully charged lithographs by Ben Shahn and a complete catalogue of Chagall?s lithographs with full-plate color illustrations. This rich offering is further highlighted by editions with important provenance from the personal libraries of: President Theodore Roosevelt, filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille and the Marquis de Lafayette.
