The bidding patterns between floor bidders and internet bidders could be such that a floor bidder may win what appears to be a tie bid, even though an internet bidder placed their bid first. Ebay could never reveal how much has been bid (which makes sense), nor do they give any indication of when a bid was placed. Furthermore, Ebay provides no function to alert an auction house of a tie bid situation.
