Item Details
Description
The elaborate needlework in this product showcases a skillful fusion of applique and embroidery, adorned with handcrafted silver sequins, stones, glass beads, and metallic threads. In Asian culture, the white elephant has long been a symbol of good fortune and abundance. One of its most iconic features is its upturned trunk, believed to bring luck. To create a kalaga, a backing is stretched on a frame and cloth is cut into figures, including the sacred white elephant and the 12 signs of the zodiac. The figures are intricately decorated and raised by stuffing them with cotton, resulting in a quilted effect.
