The underside of this serving dish is carved with an ornate Coptic cross, allowing the vessel to serve as a stand for injera. The sides are decorated with incised triangular Gurage motifs, while the interior is divided into two compartments by a raised ridge for serving different foods. A pierced suspension tab is incorporated into the rim. The surface displays a rich, dark patina from age and use.
