609. Captains of the Clouds archive of production material annotated by Fred Applegate. (Warner Bros., 1942) An archive of production material for the film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring James Cagney. Dated from July through August, 1941, it bears the ownership signature of "Fred Applegate, Script Clerk" on the front covers and his extensive marginal notations in pencil. In addition are meteorological reports, numerous pages of handwritten scene reports and continuity research material from the "Haskin Unit" which shot in Halifax and Ottawa, Canada. The studio covers exhibit minor fading and edge wear. In addition are 62 pages of annotated daily production and progress report sheets, comprising the nearly complete shooting reports from July 7, through September 26, 1941.
