Georgian British Sterling Clam Shell Silver Ladle British 18th Century (1759). Hallmarks Listed on back of stem. London Lion with Crown , cursive letter D in shield for date 1759,Maker T over WC over C into a quatrefoil, Thomas & William Chawner (possibly),London 1758.This piece was purchased in Brimfield Massachusetts in 1986 and the seller claimed it had belonged to John Adams Second President and founding father of the United States. We do not have any chain of provenance on the piece. The stem is period engraved in cursive lettering J.A. This is an interesting piece worthy of further research. This piece is 265 years old!!! This ladle weighs 6.53 oz. Length 13 inches x 3 7/8ths inches
